Cocoa Origin Manager - Trading/Sales/Marketing (United Kingdom)

The Role
The role involves working closely with the Cocoa Procurement Manager, with a focus on areas in Africa and will oversee the sourcing, quality management and supply chain of cocoa beans from various origins. The role involves building and maintaining relationships with our procurement, shipping and supply chain teams on the ground in our origin countries, both internally and externally. The role will be based in London or West Africa origin.
Main Responsibilities
- Establish, enhance and maintain key supplier relationships in several African cocoa origins
- Assist in information gathering, supplier selection, contract creation and execution
- Assist in managing internal bean sourcing teams in origin and price risk management
- Help improve local processes and procedures to maintain profitability, high quality standards and operation excellence
- Help to develop a robust quality monitoring system from origin to factory above and beyond
- Manage quality staff in origin
- Maintain high standard of quality testing
- Assist origins in developing budgets including the establishment of fixed and variable cost calculations for daily pricing
- Development and maintaining of pricing tool across origins
- Promote, monitor, and strict implementation of EUDR requirements
- Track customer commitments for origin programmes and coordinate execution in origin
Skills & Experience
- Bachelors or Master Degree in a business or finance related subject or equivalent experience
- Must have minimum 1 year previous experience working in origin /developing countries within in a commodities/agricultural or supply chain environment
- Experience working in the soft commodities/agricultural industry would be ideal.
- Strong interest in sustainability, agronomy and regenerative agriculture;
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated experience in dealing with budgets and tight deadlines
- Ability to work within developing country cultures, be a self-starter and able to build working relationships
- Fluent English
- French language skills would be beneficial.
